MCC men's tennis finishes 17th at NJCAA National Tournament

MCKINNEY, TX - The MCC men's tennis team finished 17th at the NJCAA national tennis tournament.

Day one brought 8 points for the Eagles as they won four of nine matches. Sebastian Hernandez won at #1 singles against New Mexico Military Institute's Raul Ravalous 6,2 6,1. At #2 singles Loic Hiss defeated Mesa Community College's Frichard Mulenga 6,1 6,1. At #3 singles Will McCullough fell to Iowa Central Community College's Prince Gandanou 6,2 6,3. At #4 singles Parker Lyons defeated Coastal Alabama Community College's Ethan Cuzzort 7,6 (3,6) 6,2. At # 5 singles Denzel Jones fell to Prarie State College's Carlos Alcaia 6,3 6,4. At #6, singles
Issac James fell to USC Sumpter's Kallie Johansen 6,1 6,0.

At #1 doubles, the team of Hiss and Hernandez defeated Mesa Community College's Raul Davalos and Sebastian Sota 6,1 6,0. At #2 doubles, the team of Lyons and McCullough fell to Jacksonville College's Andreas Ayala and Franco Vedda 6,4 6,4. Issac James and Denzel Jones fell at #3 doubles to USC Sumter's Liam Barry and Kallie Johansen 6,0 6,0.

On day 2, Sebastian Hernandez kept winning at #1 singles by defeating Hinds Community College's Fabian Juarez 6,2 6,0. At #2 singles, Loic Hiss fell to Iowa Central's Hod'Abalo Padio 7,6 7,5. In the #3 consolation bracket, Will McCullough defeated Northwest MS Community College's Kaleb Parrish 8-4. At #4 singles Parker Lyons fell to Wallace State's Alex Jaulin 6,1 6,0. In the #5 singles back draw, Denzel fell to College of Lake County's Mike Kim 8,5. In the quarterfinals of the #6 singles back draw, Issac fell to Mesa Community College's Hung Pham 8-0.

At #1 doubles, Hiss and Hernandez fell to Colin College's Luis Ching and Tristan Vigneron 6,3 6,1. In the back draw of #2 doubles, Lyons and McCullough defeated Prarie State College's Carlos Alcala and Gabriel Merielles 8,6. In the back draw of #3 doubles, James and Jones fell to Mesa Community College's Lucas Barruffi and Andrew Hoffman 8-2.

On day 3 in the quarterfinal round of #1 singles, Sebastian Hernandez fell to Tyler Junior College's Diego Dalisay 6,0 6,2. Will McCullough continued to win in the back draw, defeating New Mexico Military Institute's Sameer Jain 8,1.
In the back draw of #2 doubles, Lyons and McCullough also continued to win, defeating College of Lake County's Memphis Gellego and Lukas Januskis 8-5.

On day 4 in the #3 singles back draw, Will fell to Jacksonville College's Andres Viedma 8,2.
McCullough and Lyons won 8,6 in the semi-finals of the #2 doubles back draw over MS Gulf Coast's Kyle Bond and Orren Ladner. They would lose the back draw final to Jones College's Tanner Brevard and Charlie Brady 8,3.

The Eagles finished the NJCAA National Tennis tournament with 11.5 points and in 17th place.
