Meridian Community College Swimming Makes a Splash at Delta State Thanksgiving Invitational

Cleveland - Meridian Community College (MCC) had a significant milestone in its athletic history by participating in its first-ever swim meet at the Delta State Thanksgiving Invitational in Cleveland, Mississippi.

MCC competed against five other colleges, including Delta State University, Rhodes College, Hendrix College, University of the Ozarks, and Millsaps College. Notably, MCC was the only community college to participate in this meet.

MCC's standout performer, Megan Heggie, made waves by scoring an impressive 42 points during the preliminary and final rounds of the meet.
Her performance has earned her qualifications in nine events for the upcoming NJCAA National Swim Meet, slated to take place in Fort Pierce, Florida. Heggie's qualifying events encompass a diverse range of swimming disciplines, including the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1,000 free, 1,650 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, and 100IM.

MCC is gearing up for its next meet at the Christmas Invitational, December 9-12, also at Delta State University.
