No. 20 Eagles Dominate Florida Post Grad for Seventh Straight Victory

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Meridian Community College Eagles baseball team continued their red-hot streak Thursday, securing a dominant 10-4 victory over Florida Post Grad at home. With this win, MCC extends its winning streak to seven games.

The afternoon started on a special note as MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner took the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, setting the tone for an exciting afternoon of baseball at Scaggs Field.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Brennon Wright delivered an RBI single in the first inning. Florida Post Grad managed to tie the game in the third after an MCC defensive miscue, but the Eagles responded quickly. Doby Bartling's RBI single in the bottom of the inning gave MCC a lead they would never relinquish.

A strong pitching performance backed up the Eagles' offensive firepower. Caden Boswell earned the win, allowing just one hit over two scoreless innings while striking out three. MCC utilized its deep bullpen early in the season, giving several players valuable time on the mound. Currie Jones, Joel Smith, Wade Barr, Aiden Tuura, Tyler Keys, and Case Thurston all contributed in today's outing.

Offensively, the Eagles tallied 14 hits, with Brett Busbea, Wright, Brayden Martin, and Bartling each collecting two. The team showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, while Martin and Walker Van Meter showcased their speed with multiple stolen bases.

The Eagles (8-1) will look to keep the momentum rolling when they return to action on Friday, February 14, hosting Southeastern in a doubleheader at Scaggs Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
