No. 20 Meridian Eagles Walk It Off Against Mississippi Gulf Coast

SUMMIT, Miss. – The No. 20-ranked Meridian Community College Eagles secured a thrilling walk-off victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday, edging out the Bulldogs 1-0 in a defensive showdown. With the game locked in a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, Chris Fox delivered the game-winning hit, driving in the lone run and sealing the win for MCC.

Both teams showcased dominant pitching performances, but it was Conner Gehr who stole the spotlight for the Eagles. Gehr was nearly untouchable on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout. The right-hander allowed just five hits while striking out 11 and walking only one.

Meridian's offense was led by Fox, who went 1-for-3 with the game-winning RBI. Brett Busbea, Tyrus Williams, Brayden Martin, Doby Bartling, Nate Trochessett, and Harlin Hovater each added a hit to round out the Eagles' offensive efforts. Defensively, MCC played flawlessly, committing zero errors.

With the victory, the Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season. MCC will return to action later tonight as they take on Southwest Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m.
