
Meridian, Miss. – Meridian Community College's baseball program continues to shine this season as freshman right-handed pitcher Connor Gehr has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Pitcher of the Week.
Gehr, a standout from Gulf Shores, Alabama, earned the honor after delivering an impressive complete-game shutout last Monday, February 17, against Mississippi Gulf Coast. In the Eagles' narrow 1-0 victory, Gehr dominated on the mound, racking up 11 strikeouts while allowing just five hits and one walk over seven innings. His stellar performance not only secured the win but also highlighted his growing presence as a key player for the 20th-ranked Eagles.
So far this season, Gehr has been a force on the mound for the Eagles. In his three appearances, he boasts a flawless 3-0 record, with 16 innings pitched. Gehr has allowed only nine hits and one run, maintaining an impressive 0.56 ERA. He has struck out 22 batters while issuing just five walks, establishing himself as one of the top arms in the conference.
The Eagles now look ahead to their upcoming doubleheader on Wednesday, February 26, in Scooba, MS. They'll first face off against East Mississippi Community College at 11 a.m., followed by a high-stakes matchup with #2-ranked East Central Community College at 2 p.m.
