Entering his 14th season at the helm of the Meridian Community College baseball program, Dillon Sudduth has continued the proud tradition of Eagle baseball. Under his leadership, MCC has remained one of the MACCC’s premier programs, earning postseason berths and consistently finishing at the top of conference standings with an overall MACCC winning percentage of 76%.
With the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Sudduth has now led the Eagles to 383 wins over 12 full seasons, adding 28 more victories and another postseason appearance in the MACCC Region Tournament. His teams have averaged 32 wins per season during his tenure, reflecting a standard of excellence and consistency year after year. Over his 18 years coaching at MCC, the Eagles have claimed one Region 23 championship, finished as Region 23 runner-up three times, and added an MACCC Tournament championship to their storied history.
Named head coach at the age of 26, Sudduth began his career at MCC as the program’s top assistant for five years before his promotion. During his time as head coach, he has overseen over three million dollars’ worth of facility additions and renovations, including the Smith-Williams Fieldhouse with its big league-style player clubhouse, coaches’ offices, and a traditional room honoring former Eagles, as well as the construction of a new hitting and pitching facility, covered chairback grandstands, a state-of-the-art lighting system, and infield turf upgrades.
Sudduth has coached 10 All-Americans and 64 Academic All-Americans, had two players selected to represent the NJCAA USA National Team, coached the school’s all-time leader in single-season and career home runs, a Ferriss Trophy winner, a first-round MLB Draft pick, and numerous All-Conference honorees. Under his guidance, 181 players have signed with four-year schools, and 35 players have been drafted by Major League Baseball.
Off the field, Sudduth’s teams excel in the classroom and the community. The Eagles have maintained a team GPA of 3.0 or higher every year, finishing fourth nationally in the NJCAA in 2018. His teams contribute over 200 community service hours annually and were named Special Olympics Volunteers of the Year in 2015. Alongside team chaplains Justin Busby and Chris Thomas, Sudduth has led nearly 25 players on mission trips to the Dominican Republic and is a sought-after speaker for FCA events.
Originally from Madison, Mississippi, Sudduth was a two-sport standout at Madison Central High School, winning state championships in both football as a quarterback and baseball as a shortstop. He was a two-time All-State baseball selection. He began coaching as a student assistant after completing his collegiate playing career at Southeastern Louisiana under Jay Artigues, where he was a two-year starter as an infielder in 2006-07 and was voted “Teammate of the Year” as a senior. Before Southeastern, he played two seasons at MCC under Mike Federico and Chad Caillet.
Sudduth earned his degree in business management from Southeastern Louisiana University and holds an MBA from Delta State University. He and his wife, Miranda, have a son, Walker, and a daughter, Olivia Kate.
