Lady Eagles Sweep Coastal Alabama North with Back-to-Back Run-Rule Wins

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles delivered a commanding performance Wednesday, sweeping the Coastal Alabama North Lady Coyotes in dominant fashion. MCC secured an 8-0 victory in game one before capping off the day with a 10-2 win in game two, both ending in run-rule decisions.

Game One: Lady Eagles Soar to 8-0 Victory

MCC set the tone early, with Mary Coumbe driving in the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. The momentum continued as Lainey Briggs delivered a three-run homer in the third, extending the lead. RaMiyah Price put the game out of reach with a two-run blast to center field in the fifth, sealing the 8-0 run-rule win.

Pitcher Dakota Haynsworth was stellar in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. The left-hander allowed just four hits while striking out four and walking none in five innings of work.

Offensively, MCC racked up 11 hits, led by Coumbe's perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Briggs added three RBIs, while Rylee Turner collected two hits. The Lady Eagles were flawless in the field, committing no errors and turning a double play.

Game Two: Loftin and McClellan Lead MCC to 10-2 Win

MCC wasted no time setting the pace in game two, scoring early and often en route to another run-rule victory. Allie Loftin led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Arlee McClellan also had a big game, collecting three hits and driving in two runs.

The Lady Eagles' offense exploded for 16 hits, with multiple players contributing to the scoring effort. Turner doubled in the second inning to extend the lead, while McClellan's RBI double in the third added another insurance run. Camry Johnson, Loftin, Turner, and McClellan each drove in two runs.

On the mound, Julie Amacher was dominant, striking out seven and allowing just four hits over five and one-third shutout innings to earn the win. Once again, MCC was flawless defensively, finishing the day without committing an error.

The Lady Eagles (15-15, 0-4 conference) will be back in action on the road Monday, traveling to face Coahoma in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
