
Cleveland - Meridian Community College's swim team made a splash in their first meet of the season at Delta State University's 2024 Magnolia Invite, showcasing impressive individual performances and securing national qualification in multiple events.
Competing among top talent, Chad Campbell, Sydney Cooper, Kyla Goldman, and Megan Heggie represented MCC with notable achievements, each qualifying for nationals across all their events. Their performances underscore the team's hard work and dedication as they dive into a promising season.
Individual Results
- Chad Campbell placed 7th in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:13.91 and 11th in both the 50 Free (25.36) and 100 Free (56.69).
- Sydney Cooper excelled with a 9th-place finish in the 50 Free, clocking in at 24.25, and a 12th-place finish in the 100 Free at 57.70.
- Kyla Goldman claimed 5th in the 100 Back with a time of 1:08.65 and another 5th in the 50 Free at 28.14. She also finished 6th in the 100 Free with a time of 1:02.33.
- Megan Heggie took 4th place in the 1000 Free, completing the race in 13:17.12, and placed 5th in the 200 Back with a time of 2:56.11. Her 200 Free and 500 Free swims were exhibition events, completed in 2:33.13 and 6:34.94, respectively.
- Arian Taylor showcased skill in the 50 Free, placing 10th with a time of 44.60, and matched that position in the 100 Free with 1:47.75.
MCC's swimmers made a powerful start to their season, with solid placements across events and all four athletes achieving national qualifying times. The team looks forward to building on this success in upcoming meetings.
