
CLINTON, Miss. – Meridian Community College's Track and Field team delivered a standout performance at the Mike McMillan Invitational hosted by Mississippi College on Friday, April 25. Competing against a strong field of several schools, MCC athletes brought home several top finishes across multiple events.
Freshman Jamari Page led the way, claiming first place in the men's 110-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 14.46 seconds. In the men's 400 meters, MCC dominated the podium as sophomore Jacobe Jones captured first with a time of 48.35 seconds, followed closely by freshman Jaden King (second, 48.83) and freshman Tyran Sherrod (fourth, 49.30).
On the women's side, freshman Jakhia Martin secured third place in the women's 400 meters with a strong finish at 56.79 seconds, while freshman De'Asia Cook earned fourth place in the women's 800 meters, clocking in at 2:30.52. In the field events, freshman Jaylon Blackmon impressed with a second-place finish in the men's triple jump, recording a distance of 14.04 meters.
The women's team also highlighted the day by winning the 4x100-meter relay, posting a winning time of 48.27 seconds.
"Our student-athletes continue to make us proud with their hard work, determination, and competitive spirit," said Head Coach Chip Gayden. "Today was a great showing, and we're excited to carry this momentum forward."
The rest of the MCC Track and Field team will head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to compete in the prestigious LSU Alumni Gold meet on Saturday, April 26.
