MERIDIAN, Miss. — Meridian Community College is excited to announce the newest addition to the Lady Eagles Volleyball coaching staff: Julia Espinoza, who will join the program as Assistant Coach beginning in Fall 2025.
A native of Union, Mississippi, Coach Espinoza brings a unique blend of playing experience, leadership, and passion for the game. Her volleyball journey began at Union High School and continued through East Central Community College before she completed her degree at Mississippi State University–Meridian. She played three years of school volleyball and three years of club, gaining valuable experience both on and off the court.
"I got into the sport a little later than most, but I quickly realized how much I loved it," Espinoza shared. "Becoming a team captain showed me how powerful leadership can be, and coaching gives me the chance to pass that passion and drive along to new athletes."
Coach Espinoza says joining MCC feels like the perfect next step. "MCC is building something special. Volleyball is growing fast, and this program is just getting started. Coach Alex has already made a huge impact on me as both a player and an up-and-coming coach, and I'm excited to help grow this team together."
In addition to her coaching acumen, Julia brings her vibrant personality and love for community to the team. She's a self-proclaimed sports fanatic, lover of music, and connoisseur of dad jokes. "If you play a song once, chances are I'll already know the words," she laughs.
Head Coach Alex expressed confidence in the hire, noting, "Julia has the energy, insight, and commitment that MCC volleyball needs as we continue to build. Our players are going to thrive under her guidance."
Meridian Community College is thrilled to welcome Coach Espinoza to the Eagle family. Join us this fall as we kick off a new season and a new chapter in MCC Volleyball.
