
Meridian, Miss – Meridian Community College track and field standout Tafadzwa Chikomba has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NJCAA Men's Athlete of the Week following his record-setting performance at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, TN.
Chikomba, representing MCC's 15th-ranked men's track and field team, delivered a career-defining moment in the Men's Long Jump Invite, soaring to a remarkable 8.05 meters (26.41 feet). His first-place finish in the event not only showcased his elite talent but also placed him among the best in collegiate competition, ranking him third among all collegiate long jumpers this season and third all-time in NJCAA history.
His electrifying performance continues to solidify MCC's reputation for producing top-tier athletic talent. Chikomba's latest honor is a testament to his dedication, skill, and the strength of MCC's track and field program under the guidance of Chip Gayden and Harrison Tillman.
With this recognition, Chikomba adds yet another milestone to an already impressive season.
